MUSIC:: New School-Old School music straight from Detroit

I was on one of my favorite groups Myspace sites and heard some new hot tracks so I had to let you know a new album is about to drop. Sa Ra is always getting mad buzz (Sa Ra Myspace page). This is a production team who have gotten mad love and production credits on albums from the likes of Common, Pharoh Monch, NERD, Dr Dre, Jill Scott, and Goapele. They come from the same studios in "The D" as the Platinum Pied Pipers (don't sleep in their album either it's off the hook!). The jazzy soul style was also featured on the Dwele's underated underground debut.
All of the above give you excursions in deep Detroit funk with hip-hop sensiblities and some Detroit techno soul overtones (but they won't admit that...lol).

Here is a pic from their last tour in Japan...their new album's sound is as edgy their style, you will be pleased...

I caught PPP in Brooklyn performing with their label mate Roy Ayers, and they set it off. Check out either of these acts live and you are in for a treat. Another great Detroit act to watch is the X-Parlament keyboard man, Amp Fiddler.

These new school / old school acts are recreating the hip hop industry with their unique styles and they actually bring bands...go figure! Hopefully the record industry will give them marketing budgets to match their creativity so the masses actually get to hear them on the radio.
